soo good! i can't believe we were lucky enough to get the next chapter a day later! I like that the JC you had created in the beginning of this story was so different than the JCs I've read in so many others. I can't describe it but it's almost as though he was really abrasive or hardened, though not entirely a jerk. But you had softer sides of him peeking out throughout this whole story, reminding us that he's still the JC we all know and love.
"He reached up to push against her shoulders gently so that she would lean back again. "You still love him," he reminded, his voice soft, not accusatory. His expression told Caroline that it was something painful to admit. "I know you do." What i LOVE most about this story and this part of the chapter is how you're using Caroline to break down these walls JC has created, changing him from the person he was in beginning to this softer side of him we all know is there. Wonderful writing! Can't wait for more and to see how this will end! and yay!!! they finally kissed!
Author's Response:
So I almost never reply to reviews individually but I just had to here - thank you thank you thank you! I love hearing that you've been picking up what I've been trying to lay down, character-wise anyway, in this story. I really wanted to write a different characterization of JC, and I had so much fun doing it...he's definitely an asshole in this story, but he's got his reasons! And I enjoyed being able to bring Caroline's perspective into it, too...as an imperfect person herself, learning how to cope with her imperfections and yet embrace them as she grows closer to JC.
Thank you again for your honest opinions and feedback, it means so much!
