Hello all! As a possible alternative to shutting down the archive (which I hate to do, honestly. I'm just tired of carrying it) we could create a paid community which would go to paying for hosting/backups and create a reserve for when the site needs maintenance. I'm currently paying those fees and have been since I took the site over a few years ago. If writers keep producing material, there is reason to keep the site open but there is no reason for me to spend hundreds of dollars a year. There are several options as simple as Patreon + discord to a forum like site like Mighty Networks. It would be private and PAID for discussion, story creation, author collaboraton and critque for fanfiction writers, something like $3-$5/month or an annual subscription. So far I have one person interested-- that isn't enough of a vote of confidence to start putting something together. Please let me know your thoughts either in the comments or join the discussion on the NF twitter.

Thanks for your thoughts Patricia! The efiction software is old and updates aren't available. There isn't another forum software that works for efiction and it would be impossible to move this database to another kind of archive. It appears that I'm the only person willing to put dollars behind keeping the archive open. We have been on borrowed time for quite a while and unfortunately it may be tme to just let it go.
But to be clear the fee would not be to use the archive- this site is free and provided as-is and we cannot legally charge for fanfiction. The fee would be to be a member of a community that would allow for the interaction that you mention and surrounding fanfiction - not only from NSYNC but any fandom.
As a sometimes poster (it's been years since an update, but I'm still trying to get that beast finished) and a frequent reader, I'm greatly appreciative of all the efforts that have been put in to keeping this community alive after all this time. If there's an alternative that should come about that will still allow the posting of submissions that are specific to this fandom, I would love to hear about it. Monthly, annual subscription, whichever ... I just hate having to weed through fics from other fandoms to get to the stuff I love - THIS stuff. :-)

Alright... The domain renews in October. It is set to auto renew. Willing to try out a community until 2025 to see how it goes. I am writing a book right now so let me ponder the options and have something open before the fall.
Dear Admin, I understand you're tired of carrying that page and all the costs. It makes me really sad, that we will probably lose this webpage in October. In general I wouldn't mind to pay a small fee for using. But the thing is, this webside is super old and absolutely not up to date. Honestly spoken, paying 3-5 Dollar for a page where you have such limited options to interact with other people (as an example) is too much. Please don't get me wrong. I appriacate a lot what you do and I already made a donation to support you. But if you or someone else wants to keep this place alive, this site needs a modern update very urgently. I believe sooner or later it needs to be revised anyway, as certain services from the provider won't be available anymore. However, I understand if you don't want to put so much effort in saving that place. It's a lot of work, I know that. I wanna thank you for keeping this place for us for so long and carrying all the costs. It was a great time being here.
